Award for Telekom for the best equal opportunity practices

Magyar Telekom has won the first place and the title of "Multicolor Organization TOP10" on the Opportunity Conference II. On the closing gala of the professional event, awards have been granted to the companies that most responsibly act for equal opportunities. The Company continues its multiple efforts in this philosophy. This year we focus on the employment of persons with changed abilities and on the career path of young fathers and women in the concept of "balance between job and family".

The Opportunity Conference II. took place in Budapest on May 26 with the title of "Equal Opportunities and Corporate Responsibility on the Work Places". The topic of the event was the employment of persons with changed abilities. The echeloned professional event was closed by a gala where the organizer Mtd Tanácsadói Közösség (Mtd Consulting Community) has rewarded the efforts of companies performing the best equal opportunity practices. Magyar Telekom has won the first place from the ten companies in the final and it has the right now to use the logo of "Multicolor Organization TOP10" for one year.

Mtd Tanácsadói Közösség announced its benchmarking survey between January and May 2010 focusing on equal opportunities and corporate responsibility on the work places. More than 400 companies responded to the online questionnaire and based on the results a Multicolor Index was defined for each company on a scale of 100. Magyar Telkom has got a score of 88 and reached the first place.

In its people strategy Magyar Telekom puts key focus on anti-discrimination and assuring equal opportunities. Beside the consequent application of "equal wage for equal work" concept, the Company offers a valuable and unique benefit package above the salary for the employees. The Company ensures equal opportunities for new recruits and old employees as well, independently from age, sex, ethnic origin, religion, political views or sexual orientation. The colleagues on HR get continuous development training in topics of anti-discrimination. Telekom puts emphasis on supporting the balance between family life and work in the frames of managing cultural diversity. The Company launched a program to support young mothers and the family. This program is unique in the whole country and it helps the parents with babies to get back to work and mitigates the technical problems of childcare. It also supports the "atypical" employment forms like tele-work, part-time job and flexible work time.

Magyar Telekom employs persons with changed working abilities. In its job advertisements the Company always mentions which jobs can be filled by such persons and they get - among others - 3 days additional, so-called "rehabilitation" holidays. The Company also launches programs to increase the general sensitivity in this sense; for instance it has been operating an Equal Opportunity Film Club called "Free Tresp..." for five years.
